It was inspired by a simple, poignant letter written over 100 years ago by 8-year-old Virginia O'Hanlon to Ed Mitchell, the editor of the New York Sun. Ed assigns Frank Church- a reporter on the verge of self destruction to reply. Church’s quest and front page reply have become one of the world’s most quoted and beloved editorials.
